Johnny Depp says the only time he feels normal is when he’s on an island away from scrutiny

Johnny Depp says the only time he feels normal is when he’s on an island away from scrutiny

The actor says he 'longs' for the chance to go out in public without people noticing him.

Being in the public eye can have some serious negative consequences.

When everyone knows what you look like, having dinner at a nice restaurant could see you surrounded by fans all wanting selfies.

Johnny Depp knows this all too well considering he's one of the biggest names in Hollywood.

He has opened up about the difficulties of being an A-lister.

When asked where he feels like himself the most, he told the South China Morning Post: "Obviously my life is a little bit different than other people’s, in the sense that I long to be able to go out into the world and experience stuff, see stuff, go to a store, bookstores.

"But it does not work that way for me any more."

He added: "Where I feel the most myself in this world, and where I go to feel absolutely normal, I suppose, is my place in the Bahamas, because it’s an island and nobody’s looking at me.

"You’ve got to have some sanctuary, a safe place where you can escape the scrutiny and the interest of others, a place where you can just sit on a beach, read, paint, meditate or whatever, that’s freedom to me.

"That’s the only real freedom."

Depp recently appeared in a new campaign for Dior's fragrance Sauvage.

He signed the deal with the brand shortly after winning his defamation case against Amber Heard.

It's believed the partnership was worth around $20 million and the Pirates of the Caribbean star said he owed everything to Dior for standing by him.

"I’ve never been more touched or prouder to have had that support," he told GQ Middle East.

"Nobody does that, and the fact that Dior has, I thank every single person involved in making the decision to trust me and stick with me all the way from the bottom to the top and back down.

"I will forever be in their debt; I will forever be loyal.

"They are… man, it’s Dior! Of course, they’re a class act, but they’re actually truly a class act.

"I mean, that’s strength, that’s class, that’s brave, it’s courageous. Dior will always mean much more to me than just Sauvage."

Let's just hope he gets to the Bahamas soon so he can enjoy some peace and quiet without having the world look at him.
