An Australian live export ship is missing after a massive typhoon hit waters south west of Japan.
Two Australians and two New Zealanders, 39 people from the Philippines and one person from Singapore are among the missing crew, according to the New Zealand Herald.
The almost 12-tonne ship was also loaded with 5,800 cattle when it disappeared after sending a distress signal during the typhoon, while it was making its way through the East China Sea.

It's thought that the missing vessel was hit by high waves and strong winds caused by Typhoon Maysak.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has said they are in contact with the families of the missing crew members on board.
"The Australian Government is providing consular assistance to the families of two Australian crew members on board a cargo vessel reported missing in Japanese waters," DFAT said in a statement.
