The world went understandably nuts when Baileys, the Irish cream liqueur, unveiled a new flavour: Red Velvet Cupcake.

Naturally, many people were clambering to get their hands on some, however Australians were left searching high and low for a bottle.

The sweet treat has been made in collaboration with a US bakery, and is described as 'light fluffy red velvet cupcakes folded into Baileys Original Cream', which will be 'an utterly irresistible combination perfect for that after-dinner adults-only dessert treat'.

After waiting for months, the delicious drink has finally landed in Australia.

Cellarbrations Berwick, a bottle shop in Melbourne, posted a photo of the bad boys all lined up and their followers went bonkers.

It comes in a 750ml bottle that has a 17 percent alcohol-by-volume content - so make sure you drink responsibly. It will set you back $35.99, which isn't too shabby given that it's likely to be your next favourite drink.

One person replied to the photo on Facebook, saying: "I got my Baileys today, and it's amazing! I don't think this bottle will last long!"

Another added: "OMG WE NEED TO TRY THIS!!"

A third wrote: "NEEEEED TO GET!!"

This isn't the first time that Baileys has put a twist on its OG formula.

Salted Caramel and Strawberries & Cream flavours were launched in supermarkets around the world as a limited edition delight, which joined their staple flavours: Original, Almande, Chocolate Luxe, Coffee and Orange Truffle.

While some might pass it off as a gimmick flavour, it managed to win the Double Gold gong at the San Francisco Spirits Competition.

The liqueur can also be used to make some tantalising cocktails, or you can try and make Red Velvet Cupcakes with Baileys Red Velvet Cupcake liqueur. A bakery in the UK managed to pull it off, so there's no reason you can't throw all the ingredients together to make something fancy.
