Bluey Producers Shut Down Rumours Iconic Children's Show Is Set To End

Rumours had surfaced earlier this week that the show's third season was to be its last with the show's main actor's voice maturing.

The producers of the Australian children's show Bluey have squashed rumours that the show was set to be cancelled.

Claims had emerged from an inside source at the award-winning show’s production hub that the series' main actor’s voice had matured, and the producers were left with the decision to re-cast the role or end the show.

An inside source reportedly told Daily Mail: “It has been one of if not the hardest and most heartbreaking decision the producers have had to make.

“The show is obviously so profitable. But its legacy is also seen as more important than anything else so the idea is to go out on a high.”

The claims had fuelled rumours that the show’s third season, which is currently in production, was set to be Bluey’s last.

However, Bluey’s distributor Brisbane-based Ludo Studio, claimed the rumours were inaccurate.

Ludo Studio later released a statement, saying: “We absolutely love Bluey and there are no plans to end the show.

“We always finish a season before planning the next one and right now we’re halfway through series three and really excited about the future – we can’t wait to share new episodes.”

In a Tweet coming directly from the show’s official account, they said: “The community of fans around the world continue to blow us away and if we ever had an update on Bluey’s future you’d hear it from us first.”

Fantastic news for lovers of the iconic blue dog everywhere.

The show was created by Joe Brumm and was launched in 2018 on the ABC in Australia but has grown into a global phenomenon, breaking all records on ABC’s iView streaming service with more than 500 million views.

The children’s show also secured a global deal with Disney that saw it streamed across 60 countries on Disney+.

Bluey follows the six-year-old blue puppy who regularly adventures with her family, focusing on themes of growing up in Australian culture.

The show has also translated into Bluey books that have sold more than one million copies, with Bluey: The Beach becoming the first children’s picture book to be named book of the year at the Australian Book Industry Awards.

The series won an International Emmy Kids Award in 2019, while it was also nominated for ‘Best Animated Series’ at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards in 2021.

The series has been recognised with awards across television, writing, and music.

Let's hope Bluey is around for years to come!
