Golden Retriever Makes It Into Guinness World Record Books After Breaking 17-Year Record

A golden retriever has made it into the Guinness World Record book for something dogs do a lot.

While pooches all over the world love to fetch tennis balls, Finley is the dog that is able to fit the most amount inside his mouth at one time.

He was recognised for being able to fit six tennis balls in his mouth at once, which beat the previous record of five that stood for an incredible 17 years.

Finley broke the record last year and now he will finally have that achievement enshrined in the upcoming edition of the iconic book.

The owners of the viral dog said: "BIG NEWS! I can officially say that I am in the @guinnessworldrecords book for 2022! This of course wasn't easy, and certainly felt like forever and a day to accomplish!

"Thank you to all my friends and fans who have been following my tennis ball journey since the beginning-was it worth the wait?

"I haven't been active as much on social media lately, but don't fret, I'm still carrying tennis balls as you can see!"

Owner Erin Molloy explained that the gorgeous pooch has been hoarding tennis balls since he was just two and his well-honed craft means that he is now able to fit six into his pie hole.

Erin's parents, Cherie and Rob Molloy, remember a time when Finley ran up to them with a whopping four balls stuffed inside his gob and that's when it became obvious that they had a special animal on their hands.

"The joy he brings to us is one thing," Cherie Molloy told the Democrat and Chronicle. "But he brings joy to people all over the world."

She added that Finley's version of fun is, obviously, go fetch. While the first few balls are easily picked up, he slows down to a crawl to grab the fifth and sixth balls.

But when there's no one there to throw half a dozen tennis balls at him, he apparently likes to lie on his back and hold a ball above him with his two paws and then drop it into his mouth.

What a good boy. Congrats, Finley and co. very well deserved.
