Man Accused Of Killing Brisbane Teenager In A Critical Condition After Being Attacked In Jail

Man Accused Of Killing Brisbane Teenager In A Critical Condition After Being Attacked In Jail

A man accused of killing a Brisbane teenager has been transported to hospital after an alleged attack in jail.

The Brisbane Times says Zlatko Sikorsky, 37, is reportedly in a 'critical condition' after being assaulted by a fellow inmate at the Wolston Correction Centre.

A Queensland Corrective Services spokesperson refused to give out the injured inmate's name but said a prisoner had suffered 'suspected head injuries'.

In a statement, they said: "QCS can confirm a prisoner was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital. The injuries are a result of an altercation with another prisoner."

An officer, who remain anonymous, told the Courier Mail the injuries were pretty bad.

"He was belted at unlock this morning. Paramedics had to work on him for ages before transportation. Apparently he struck his head as he was falling from being attacked," the officer said.

Sikorsky has been accused of torturing and murdering his 16-year-old girlfriend, Larissa Beilby, on June 23, 2018 and has also been charged with deprivation of liberty and interfering with her corpse.

Man Accused Of Murdering Brisbane Teenager Dies After Being Attacked In Jail

published at2 months ago

The teen's body was discovered at a Gold Coast residential complex five days after she died and was found stuffed inside a barrel.

The 37-year-old alleged murderer was ordered to stand trial in November last year. The two-day committal hearing heard from a friend of the victim, who told the court of her interaction with the accused killer in the weeks before Beilby's death.

Rachelle Pilon said she and Larissa shared an ice pipe when they were hanging out with Sikorsky in early June 2018. She told Sikorsky he shouldn't be in contact with Larissa, however when she saw a gun inside his jacket, she apologised.

Ms Pilon said: "We smoked ice, fantasy - he did me up a dose [of fantasy] more than the previous night. He said it was different stuff and weaker [but] because of the incident in the elevator, I was intimidated so I had it."

She also revealed she was terrified after meeting Sikorsky.

"If [the police] didn't get him, he would have got me," she said. "He had Teflon bullets and told me he could shoot me no matter where, they could go through armour, he told me."

Rahcelle also testified that she remembers seeing Larissa with bruises all over her body in the weeks before her death and had no idea she was just 16. She says she gave the victim the drug ice so that she could 'stay awake so she could stay alive'.
