Australian TV presenter Tony Armstrong has laughed after a tiny slip of the tongue on national television.

Tony was on ABC Breakfast discussing Aussie cricket captain Tim Paine's neck recent injury which could see him go under the knife to fix it.

"To cricket news, and Tim Paine is set to undergo neck surgery but medical staff remain confident he will be fit for the Ashes," he said.

"Paine has a bulging d**k that has been, bulging disc that has been - that's a funny one - causing him pain in his neck and left arm and the injury hasn't responded to treatment."

Realising his honest mistake, Armstrong quickly back-pedalled and made light of the situation.

"That's a funny one," he added while chuckling.

Armstrong was probably hoping to forget about his blunder quickly, but unfortunately for him his ABC News colleagues were on hand to grill him about it.

"A bulging what? Disc?" co-host Michael Rowland joked.

Tony hilariously replied: "Disc, disc. I said disc."

The moment has gone absolutely viral on social media and people are loving it.

One person wrote: "Love it. No point pretending it didn't happen- y'all overcame it with humour and class."

Another added: "At least when he talks about how Paine as captain is a complete package we know what he is referring to now."

A third said: "That's brilliant. Love you Tonaaayy!! Thanks Joe for sharing, you've made my morning."

Little mistakes like this must happen all the time for news readers, but this one in particular is pretty damn good.

That said, Armstrong handled it like a true champion.
