A London pub has named a new beer ‘Harry’s Bitter’ to poke fun at the backlash to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docuseries.

The Daily Mail reported that the Duke of Sussex pub in Chiswick is now serving pints to customers of the new drop.

And, just in case, patrons didn’t pick up on the reference, the beer badge includes Harry’s face.

As the photos of the brew began emerging on Twitter, one user wrote: “Kudos to the Duke of Sussex pub in Chiswick (West London) for this beautifully British riposte to Harry & Meghan's self-pitying Netflix show.

"Fittingly, with only 3.9 per cent alcohol, ‘Harry's Bitter’ is as weak as its namesake.”

Yikes, shots fired.

Another commented: “This is great. Harry and Megan can exit stage left (west) from California anytime. We’re just not interested. Ba bye.”

While a third said: “Appropriate, and not stout at all.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been subjected to criticism following the release of Harry & Meghan, which explores their decision to step away as working members of the British Royal Family and the events following.

Writer of The New Statesman, Rachel Cooke, said that while the series is ‘artful and lavish’, she slammed the couple for not revealing anything new while questioning the narrative's validity.

While John Anderson for the Wall Street Journal labelled the series ‘boring’, citing its soap opera-like formula.

Many have also accused a couple of hypocrisy over the idea that they stepped down from the Royal Family over privacy concerns.

However, a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan revealed that this was never the sole reason for their decision while accusing the tabloid media of spinning an ‘entirely untrue narrative’.

According to BBC News, the couple's global press secretary, Ashley Hansen, said: “The Duke and Duchess have never cited privacy as the reason for stepping back.

"This distorted narrative was intended to trap the couple into silence.

“In fact, their statement announcing their decision to step back mentions nothing of privacy and reiterates their desire to continue their roles and public duties. Any suggestion otherwise speaks to a key point of this series.

“They are choosing to share their story, on their terms, and yet the tabloid media has created an entirely untrue narrative that permeates press coverage and public opinion.

"The facts are right in front of them.”
