Politician calls for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to lose their Royal titles

The Isle of Wight MP accused the couple of using their titles to turn a profit with 'aggressive' attacks against the Royal family.

A politician has lashed out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the wake of their docu-series Harry & Megan dropping on Netflix.

The first volume, which consists of three episodes, came out on December 8 and is already seriously ruffling feathers.

Isle of Wight Tory MP Bob Seely told the Mail Online that the former working royals were using their titles to turn a profit with the 'aggressive' and 'unbelievable' attacks they are hurling against the Royals and Britain in their Netflix show.

Netflix has reportedly paid £88 million (AUD$159 million, USD$100 million) for the Sussex's series, which is part of a multi-year deal with the streaming service.

As a result, Mr Seely intends to table a Private Members' Bill that would hand the power over to the Privy Council power to repeal the couple's Royal status.

In order to rescind their royal titles, the bill would amend the 1917 Titles Deprivation Act, which has previously been used to remove honours from people who supported the Germans during the First World War.

Mr Seely said it was time to strip them of their Sussex titles as he believes the couple continues to lob 'TV bombs' across the Atlantic Ocean to punish the Royals and the United Kingdom.

"If this guy hates the royals so much, what is he doing parading and using his titles?' Mr Seely said.

"If Harry and Meghan had integrity and wanted to practise what they preach - if they think the Royal Family is so awful why do they use Royal titles when it benefits them?"

The Isle of Wight MP added: "I do think it [would be] the decent thing for them to voluntarily give up their titles.

“If they don't I think there are various people trying to put down Bills helping them to do that."

He went on to criticise the pair for their 'parading their deep sense of victimhood' despite being 'remarkably privileged people'.

And it seems the broader British public agrees with Seely.

According to a poll conducted by Techne for The Express, the majority of Brits think Harry and Meghan should have their titles revoked if they launch a blistering attack against the Royal Family.

The poll was conducted in relation to Prince Harry's upcoming memoir Spare, which is out in the new year, however the principle could still be applied to Harry & Meghan.

The next release of Harry & Meghan will see episodes four to six will drop on Netflix on December 15.
