A man who was orphaned as a child has spoken out about how he feels like his parents are watching over him after he won £1million on the EuroMillions. Catch the clip here:

Calum Forington, from Grimsby, discovered he'd won the prize on the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker on 17 June.

The father-of-three has since opened up about how he believes 'everything happens for a reason'.

He also noted how it feels as if his parents have been watching over him.

Calum lost both of his parents when he was 21 years old, which he reflected on as 'obviously devastating'.

Until just before he married his wife Kayleigh, Calum explained he 'could never face going to visit their grave'.

However, the pair have since 'cleaned it all up and got it looking much better for them'.

"Since then, everything just seems to have fallen into place," the 37-year-old continued.

The father explained how he's just started a new job that he loves and has had 'an amazing first year of marriage'. The lottery win of £1 million simply tops it all off.

"I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and I’m looking forward to using our win to help build an amazing future for our children," he said.

Calum explained how he'd played the Euromillions via the National Lottery app while at work, 'choosing to play a one-off with [his] own ticket'.

He said: "It wasn’t until the following morning when I was eating my cereal before work that I remembered to check my online account.

"I was in complete shock when I scrolled down and saw my EuroMillions ticket was a winner… we both completely freaked out and I had to go outside to get some air.

"Still in complete shock, I went into work and told my boss what had happened – he must’ve realised I was unlikely to get any work done that day so sent me home to sort everything out and try to get my head around it all."

Calum and Kayleigh are planning a surprise trip for their kids to Disneyland.

While admitting they spent the weekend 'in a bit of a daze' after finding out how they had won so much money, Calum has started to plan how he wants to spend the prize.

Calum and Kayleigh are planning to spend some of the money on their wedding anniversary with a trip to Rome, while another big goal is to buy their first home together.

Calum resolved: "We’ve never been able to afford to buy our own home so our win will certainly help with that, plus I’m looking forward to learning how to drive and buying us both new cars.

"I'd also been saving for a special holiday for the family, with the hope of perhaps going next year – but now we can bring this forward to this summer, so we can’t wait to tell the kids what we have planned."
