Maren Morris has turned the tables by taking an insult from conservative reporter Tucker Carlson and using it to sell t-shirts directed toward transgender advocacy groups.
The country music singer got into an online feud after beauty influencer Brittany Aldean, who is also the wife of singer Jason Aldean, made a comment that landed her in hot water.
While filming a makeup tutorial, Brittany included a caption that read: “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life.”
Following the transphobic remark, singer-songwriter Cassadee Pope wrote on Twitter: “You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging. But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their 'tomboy phase' to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”
To which Maren chimed in: “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.”

And while many championed the two for standing up for transgender rights, political commentator Tucker Carlson was not one of them.
While inviting Brittany to speak of the controversy on Tucker Carlson Tonight, Carlson condemned the singers, specifically calling Maren a ‘fake country music star’ and a ‘lunatic’.
Brittany admitted on the primetime Fox News show that she was surprised by the backlash while defending her comments: “Children should not be allowed to make these life-changing decisions at such a young age; they are not mature enough.”
Following the interview, Maren posted a meme of her walking the Grammys red carpet with a fake Tucker Carlson Tonight chyron that said ‘lunatic country person’.

But the country star wasn’t done yet.
Maren decided to take Carlson’s comments in her stride to create merch, including the infamous tagline and the number for peer support and crisis hotline for trans youth.
The country star also revealed that all the proceeds would go towards trans organisations, and so far, they’ve made over $100,000 (AUD $148,557 or £86,860).
And we would sure love to see Carlson eat his words, or much less fashion one of these cute black tees.

Many took to Twitter to praise Maren for changing the narrative as one person wrote: “Thank you Maren for protecting and looking out for all kids, I made my purchase and will wear [it] with pride. to you.”
While another said: “This is awesome. Taking a negative and turning it positive. Go Maren! We support you.”
