Michigan School Shooter's Fugitive Parents Caught After Going On The Run

Michigan School Shooter's Fugitive Parents Caught After Going On The Run

The parents of the Michigan school shooter have been caught

The parents of the teenager accused of killing four students in a Michigan high school have been found in Detroit.

A 15-year-old student named Ethan Crumbley allegedly opened fire inside Oxford High School in Oxford Township, Michigan on Tuesday 30 November.

Prosecutors charged Crumbley as an adult with murder, terrorism and other crimes and has been accused of killing four students and injuring five others, including a teacher.

His parents - Jennifer and James Crumbley - have also been charged with involuntary manslaughter and were found while on the run from police.

After receiving a tip, the couple was arrested and booked into the Oakland County Jail.

According to Detroit Police Chief James White, they were found inside the room of a commercial building.

“They appear to be hiding inside the building,” the chief told reporters, as per The New York Post.

It was reported that a tipster saw the couple's SUV in a car park 50 miles from their home and not too far from the Canadian border.

White said that the person also had video proof of one of the fugitives entering the building.

The copper also suggested that someone let them in the building and might also be facing charges.

“They didn’t break in. Somebody let them in."

On Friday night, US marshals announced a reward of up to $10,000 (£7,500) each for information leading to the Crumbleys’ arrest.

Oakland county prosecutor Karen McDonald said: “I expect parents and everyone to have humanity and to step in and stop a potential tragedy.

“The conclusion I draw is that there was absolute reason to believe this individual was dangerous and disturbed.”

Four days before the shooting, Crumbley’s father James purchased the 9mm Sig Sauer SP 2022 gun allegedly used in the shooting, according to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

Investigators alleged Ethan Crumbley emerged from a toilet with a gun and opened fire on students in the hallway.

According to the prosecutor, Jennifer Crumbley allegedly told her son in a text message: “Lol. I’m not mad at you.

"You have to learn not to get caught.”

On Tuesday (23 Nov), a teacher found a note on the teenager’s desk and took a photo of a drawing of a gun pointing at the words, 'The thoughts won’t stop. Help me', Ms McDonald said.

There also was a drawing of a bullet, she said, with words above it: “Blood everywhere.”

Between the gun and the bullet was a person who appeared to have been shot twice and was bleeding.

Ethan also wrote, “My life is useless” and “The world is dead”, according to the prosecutor.
