Customer Accidentally Spends £300 On Steak In Gordon Ramsay's Restaurant

Customer Accidentally Spends £300 On Steak In Gordon Ramsay's Restaurant

A man was left $600 (£450) out of pocket after not reading the menu properly at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, but he doesn't regret a thing.

When he decided to visit the celebrity TV chef's steakhouse in Virgin Atlantic City in the US, he already knew he was planning to push the boat out a bit.

He and his girlfriend had a reservation for the outdoor area at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Harrah's

The original plan was to get some Wagyu beef, but when he saw the menu had some triple-seared Japanase A5 - also known as Kobe - he changed his mind.

The man thought it was a real bargain as on the menu he said it looked as though the Wagyu cost $80 (£59) for 8oz, while the Kobe was $35 (£26) for 4oz.

It seemed like an irresistible offer, so the man went for it and ordered the Japanese steak.

He said: "So I'm a big guy, I'm hungry, so I order 12 oz of Kobe. The steak was amazing. I'm in my 40s and only had Wagyu before in my life just twice.

"I had never had real deal Kobe. It was like nothing else you'll ever have. Melt in your mouth delicious. We also ordered a couple of sides, appetizers, and my girlfriend had chef Ramsay's famous beef wellington for the first time ever.

He'd actually got it wrong - the beef he had ordered was actually £26 per ounce - with a minimum order of 4oz. Not £26 for 40z as he had originally thought. The steak alone came to $420 (£314).

He added: "I had to read the menu again when the bill came, because for 2 people, the bill was over $600.00!!"

"I wish Chef Ramsay was there to come out and call me a donut for f***ing this up lol.

"I enjoyed the hell out of it. No ragrets baby!"

He shared his experience on Reddit. One person commented: "What you bought was a $600 story. For the rest of your life, every time someone says 'this is good steak' you can say 'Yeah, but..'"

Another replied: "Thank God it was delicious but that bill... ouch."
