Estranged Husband Has Accused Jim Carrey Of The Wrongful Death Of His Wife

The husband of Cathriona White, the latter who was in a relationship with actor Jim Carrey until a few days before her death, has filed a wrongful death suit against the actor, claiming he illegally supplied her with the drugs that she overdosed on, among other claims.

Irishwoman White, an actress herself, was found dead in her home in September 2015 after overdosing on prescription pills, including Ambien, Percocet and Poprandol.

In court papers filed in the Superior Court of California, her estranged husband, Mark Burton, whom she married in January 2013 in Las Vegas, claims that Carrey illegally obtained the drugs under the alias name of Arthur King, and gave them to White, which he considers to be tantamount to wrongful death.

White and Carrey reportedly split up a few days before her death, purportedly with her leaving a note behind about it, as well as a longer note which contained her wishes once she had passed away.

Among numerous claims, Burton also believes that Carrey sent her a text message after her death to cover up the fact he'd got the drugs for her. "On information and belief, after White committed suicide, and in an effort to cover-up his conduct and complicity in her death, Carrey sent a bogus text message on September 27, 2015 to White (who was already deceased) pretending as though he had misplaced the drugs and insinuating ... White may have taken them from Carrey."

Among another claims, Burton has stated that Carrey "never paid a dime" towards the funeral costs of his wife. Furthermore, he also expressed his belief that Carrey was controlling of White.

Carrey was a pallbearer at White's funeral in Ireland with the world's media reporting her untimely death. Burton is now also asking that Carrey pays for a whole range of things connected to the funeral, including burial fees, Burton's lawyer's fees and other small damages.

Burton has requested a jury trial.
