Instagram Star Keilanny Boo Shot Dead In Suspected Drug Cartel Murder
A Mexican Instagrammer has been shot dead in a bar, in a suspected drug cartel murder.
The influencer, who was known as 'Keilanny Boo', had more than 59,000 followers on Instagram and a further 136,000 on Facebook - though these numbers appear to have increased to 69,000 and 145,000 respectively since her passing.
She was shot to death on 17 July, although her murder has only recently been confirmed by Mexican authorities.
The woman had been at a bar called Cheleria in the municipality of Nezahualcoyotl - which is in the central Mexican state of Mexico, and also the area she lived in - when she was shot, according to investigation sources.
Reports claim she was killed by members of the drug cartel La Unión Tepito, with which she is believed to have been linked. Reports from the prosecution suggest the star may have even belonged to the cartel - with a photo of Keilanny Boo posing with a gun having once been posted online by the Instagrammer, showing her pointing it at the camera.
On another occasion, she had shared a photo of an assault rifle with bullets spelling out her name.
She would also often post photos flaunting her luxury lifestyle, including images of herself behind the wheel of a BMW or stepping into a Ford Mustang.
A friend of the victim, who had a young child, shared a message expressing her condolences over the death of the young woman on social media.
She wrote: "Thanks daughter, sister, mum and friend... Take care of yourself in that place wherever you are, sending kisses to the sky."
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been reported.
In Russia, another Instagram influencer was recently found dead in her apartment with her throat slit and her body stuffed into a suitcase.

They asked her landlord to open the door of her apartment and found her dead, wearing only a pair of lace garters.
A man called Maxim Gareyev has since confessed to her murder, having said he stabbed her 'at least five times in the neck and chest', before bundling her body into the suitcase.
According to Russian police, Gareyev now faces life in jail after admitting to the murder - which is thought to have been related to her 'repeatedly insulting' his sexual prowess while they were having sex.
