As shown in the frightening footage from his home security camera, Jake DeMarco was shocked to see a 'transparent' dog running and playing alongside his own pet.
The father-of-two from Melbourne, Victoria, insists that his backyard is fully secured by a locked high fence, where there'd be no way for the dog to get inside.
The 38-year-old, also claimed to sprint outside to check he hadn't lost the plot and then, ever so mysteriously, the 'ghost dog' was nowhere to be seen...
A shook up Jake said: "I was out in the garage having a cigarette when one of the four live camera streams caught my eye.
"Ryder was running around like he was playing with something or someone which isn't normal behaviour for him, especially at that time of the night.
"I noticed he wasn't alone.
"I was confused and in shock when I saw the footage because I knew Ryder was alone but had a playmate for a minute that then disappeared into the darkness."
Jake also revealed that his missus now watches the CCTV cameras more than telly in hopes of catching the 'ghost' once again.
She wrote: "Sorry for the obnoxious barking at the beginning. Watch my black dog. Ghost takes her collar off in her crate."
In the video, there are two dogs in separate cages barking at each other.
About 25 seconds into the security camera footage, the two animals suddenly go completely quiet - and remain silent for some time.
The black dog, which is in the crate on the right, then randomly jerks backwards into the side of the crate, its collar coming off of its own accord.
This is the moment that its owner believes was a 'ghost' removing the collar - an idea that some people were kind of convinced by.
One person commented: "I've never seen such a convincing ghost video."
Someone else wrote: "They both got super quiet... They felt the energy."
A third said the silence was 'unsettling', while a fourth added: "OH HELLLLLLLLL NOOOOO."
