Novelist Who Wrote 'How To Murder Your Husband' Arrested For Husband's Murder

A novelist has been arrested for fatally shooting her husband six years after she wrote a blog post titled How to Murder Your Husband.
Nancy Crampton-Brophy, 68, was arrested last week for the June 2 murder of Daniel Brophy, a 63-year-old chef who was found dead by his students in the kitchen area of the Oregon Culinary Institute in Portland, where he worked.
His wife, wrote romance and mystery novels including The Wrong Husband and The Wrong Lover.
In 2011, Crampton-Brophy wrote a blog post called How to Murder Your Husband. According to The Oregonian, she said: "As a romantic suspense writer, I spend a lot of time thinking about murder and, consequently, about police procedure.
"After all, if the murder is supposed to set me free, I certainly don't want to spend any time in jail."
Privacy settings for the WordPress blog have been changed so that only the owner can grant permission for access, according to the MailOnline.
The essay goes on to reel off a number of motives that would drive someone towards killing their spouse.
"Divorce is expensive, and do you really want to split your possessions? Or if you married for money, aren't you entitled to all of it?
"The drawback [sic] is the police aren't stupid. They are looking at your first. So you have to be organized, ruthless, and very clever.
"Husbands have disappeared from cruise ships before. Why not yours?"
Crampton-Brophy was arrested last Wednesday at her home accused of murder and use of an unlawful firearm.
Her husband was found by his students with fatal gunshot wounds in the kitchen area of the school on June 2 2018. He had worked there since 2006 and was a marine biology and mushroom expert.
According to the MailOnline, the day after his death, Crampton-Brophy took to Facebook explaining: "For my facebook friends and family, I have sad news to relate. My husband and best friend, Chef Dan Brophy was killed yesterday morning.
"For those of you who are close to me and feel this deserved a phone call, you are right, but I'm struggling to make sense of everything right now
"While I appreciate all of your loving responses, I am overwhelmed. Please save phone calls for a few days until I can function."

NBC News reported, that she was arraigned on charges of murder and unlawful use of a weapon. Police did not release a possible motive for the killing.
At a vigil outside the culinary school where Daniel taught, Crampton-Brophy had mourned her husband, saying, "Daniel was one of the few people I've ever known who did exactly what he wanted in life and loved doing it.
"He was a person who did what he loved: he loved teaching, he loved mushrooms, he loved his family."
