Scottish Nightclub Exploits Bizarre Loophole So It Does Not Require Covid Passports

A nightclub in Scotland has worked out a way to bypass the Covid passport ruling for events.

A nightclub in Scotland has found a bizarre loophole that doesn't require the use of Covid passports for a night out.

The current rules state that everyone over the age of 18 is expected to present proof they've had both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine before entering nightclubs and any indoor unseated event of more than 500 people.

But Lulu Bar and Nightclub - a venue branded as 'Edinburgh's best nightclub' - has found a way to bypass the ruling.

By removing the dancefloor and replacing it with seating, the club is still able to remain open for business amid struggles to stay profitable during Covid passport ruling.

Explaining why Lulu make the decision, Innes Bolt, its Managing Director, told Edinburgh Live: "We have experienced a significant decline in footfall resulting in a crash in our sales which meant that Lulu was running at a loss.

"To protect our staff, promoters and business, we have removed the designated dance floor and reconfigured our space.

"Instead, we have created a new seating area, bringing in additional furniture to occupy that space and repositioning our DJ Booth.

"This change will allow us to maintain a safe and controlled environment throughout."

Nightclubs have reportedly claimed that they've seen a decline in footfall since the passport scheme began on 18 October.

It's being said that 180,000 18 to 29-year-olds have declined vaccinations.

Without proof of their NHS Scotland Covid Status app or an NHS paper record providing they have been fully vaccinated, they won't be allowed at large events and nightclubs.

A similar scheme exists in Wales but not in England.

Murdo Fraser, the Scottish Conservative spokesman for Covid recovery, slammed the scheme.

He said: "The vaccine passports guidance is so shambolic that places which are clearly not nightclubs are being billed as nightclubs, and places that are clearly nightclubs are managing to use loopholes to claim they're not."

It's not all bad news for Scotts that just want a good old night out because it was recently announced that the Scottish accent was voted as the most sexy in the UK, according to a new study.

This particular survey - and there have been many, with varying results - asked 2,000 people for their opinions on the perceived 'sexiness' of accents.

I mean, when Shrek calls 'Fiona', does it really get any sexier than that?
