Several people are reported to have died in Germany after a car ploughed into a crowd of pedestrians.

Up to 30 more are believed to be injured following the incident in Munster.

Police are urging members of the public to stay away from the area.

Parts of the area, which is in the Old Town, are sealed off while police and emergency services attempt to deal with the incident.

In a tweet, police said: "#Kiepenkerl There are dead and injured. Please avoid the area. More information can be found here. We are on site."

German media has reported that the driver of the car has died.

Pictures emerging on social media show scenes of chaos with tables and chairs scattered around and people tending to the injured.
