A shopper in a Florida Walmart reportedly pulled a gun on another customer after getting into an argument about face coverings.

The incident was caught on CCTV at the Royal Palm Beach store on Sunday, according to local police.

Images of the gunman were released by authorities, showing him squaring up to a customer who was wearing a mask.

Although his motives haven't been officially confirmed, the man is seen giving the finger to another masked man, as seen in the footage.

In the footage, a young girl can be seen pulling the arm of one of the masked customers.

The incident took place after the company introduced a new policy requiring all customers to wear face coverings in both Walmart and Sam's Club stores.

It said that the company policy will become effective on Monday, giving stores the chance to fully inform customers.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office confirmed that they have since located the gunman and an investigation is taking place.

It's the latest in a series of incidents that have been caused by masks, which have become the subject of intense debate in recent weeks.

Just last week, video footage was shared that showed a woman in a Skechers store throwing shoe boxes at an employee who had asked her to wear a face covering. Watch it below:

The incident took place in Oklahoma City and was reported on 8 July. Police were called to the incident and were told a woman had entered the store without a face mask and was asked several times by employees to wear one.

Fox25 reported the employee pointed out that the front door of the shop has a sign which states that masks must be worn to help curb the spread of Covid-19.

The woman ignored this request and continued to shop, but when she walked over to the counter desk, the employee suggested she should go to a nearby shop to purchase a mask, then come back to buy the shoes she had chosen.

The employee said the woman became angry at the suggestion and started to throw shoe boxes at the employee before storming out of the store.

Another employee, Myah Joycelynn, filmed the incident and posted it to Facebook.

She wrote: "So this happened at work today... All we wanted was for her to wear a mask."

She added: "I hope this lady is embarrassed of herself and her actions."
