A woman has revealed how she staged her apartment to make it look like she had a boyfriend living with her, saying she needed it to appear as though she didn't 'live alone' as she had a stranger coming over to deliver something.

TikTok user @sulken posted a video about her ingenious idea, writing: "#selfcareroutine."

In the clip, she explained: "I have a stranger (male) coming over with a coffee table from FB Marketplace so I need to look like I don't live alone."

As well as placing some men's shoes right by the entrance, she also showed how she had an iPad in another room playing a track of 'Boyfriend Roleplay Deep Voice Jealous Boyfriend'.

"Is that a man's voice coming from the other room?" a caption reads.

The woman also put laid out a 'boyfriend's hoodie' prop on the sofa, and left some boxing equipment on the side.

"Oh does your live-in boyfriend like to box?" she wrote.

Other items included a skateboard, which she popped into the hallway.

The video has since racked up hundreds of thousands of likes and a whopping 2.5 million views.

It's also prompted a huge conversation about safety in the 2,500-strong comment section, with many people saying it's 'sad' how many people have to go to such measures.

One wrote: "The fact that we have to think about this as women is so scary and sad."

Someone else said: "It's a sad reality that this is what we do to be safe."

Some people argued that the woman could have asked to meet the Facebook Marketplace seller outside, but she replied to say: "It was too heavy for me to carry!!!"

Others also shared their own tips, with one saying: "Get a pair of old work boots with dirt on them from Goodwill and put them outside your apartment door."

Another suggested: "Instead of the male voice you could play someone's stream so it sounds like there's a guy gaming in the next room."

A second agreed: "Get a gaming setup in a corner and make it absolutely filthy like empty sodas and plates. Bulletproof evidence."

Someone else joked: "Just put 2 in 1 bodywash shampoo at the entrance and he'll know."
