Following her major win in New Zealand's latest election, Jacinda Ardern has shared a 'victory selfie' with her followers on social media.

Taking to Instagram, the New Zealand Prime Minister wasted no time getting back to business as she shared a smiling snap to her 1.5 million supporters from inside her Wellington office.

She wrote: "Back in the Beehive. A chance to catch up with our new MPs, thank the team who were working behind the scenes during the last six weeks, and to feel grateful just for being here again."

After posting the celebratory snap, the PM received a slew of congratulatory messages from supporters from both New Zealand and Down Under, with one person saying: "That 'just won an election look' suits you, boss."

Another young fan expressed her admiration for the beloved NZ leader, writing: "Today I got asked who's a leader you admire? I'm currently running for school president and I couldn't be more prouder to say you, thank you for inspiring future leaders."

An Aussie user quipped: "Can you please be our PM too? From Australia."

"A large celebration from South Australia," wrote another, adding: "You have given me the hope that there is a better future for our world."

Even those living across the pond in the US sent their well wishes to Ardern, with one commenting: "You're everything I wish we had In America. Additionally, you've now what I see as a true leader and I thank you for the gift of reality."

Since her re-election into office, the PM has also announced her new team in another post to Instagram, calling them 'an amazing crew of new MPs. Doctors, a midwife, teachers, people with a background in environmental law, pay equity, human rights, workers rights, nursing and small business. A past cleaner and refugee, an ex deputy mayor, people who live rurally and people who live in cities, and they all have one thing in common - they are all Labour, and they're all here to work for their communities'.

Throughout her campaign, Ardern focused on her government's successful response to the coronavirus pandemic, dubbing it the 'Covid election' after New Zealand recorded just 25 COVID deaths and 1,883 total cases in a population of five million, essentially extinguishing the virus from the country.
