Let's All Shed A Tear For The Billionaires Who Are The Real Losers Of The EU Referendum

Let's All Shed A Tear For The Billionaires Who Are The Real Losers Of The EU Referendum

A tragic story of woe and strife.

So, since the result of the EU referendum, there's been a spike in racist incidents, the pound fell to a 31-year low on the financial market and the prime minister resigned. But wait, screw all that stuff - the real losers here are the world's 400 richest people who lost nearly £100bn on Friday.

Those poor, poor billionaires. What are they to do?!

According to the Daily Mail, the group of old rich white guys includes:

Bill Gates (Microsoft founder) - worth £61bn - lost £1.75bn

Amancio Ortega (Owner of Zara) - worth £51bn - lost £4.4bn

Warrenn Buffet (Investment guru) - worth £48.2bn - lost £1.7bn

Jeff Bezos (Amazon founder) - worth £45bn - lost £1.2bn

Gerald Grosvenor (Duke of Westminister) - worth £9.4bn - lost £730m

Altogether, the 400 of them lost £93bn which is more money than people like you and me can possibly fathom. I'm weeping for them as I type this. It's hard to type when my vision is blurry and the tears keep messing up my keyboard, but I'll soldier on.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the biggest loss by far was Amancio Ortega.

I'm guessing they all woke up and had one Weetabix this morning rather than their lavish two so that they can make ends meet.

We're all in this together, lads. Spare a few quid for these blokes if you can.
