People have been sharing a fake-image of Parkland shooting survivor Emma González 'tearing up the US constitution'.

Pictures appearing to show González ripping up the constitution have popped up on social media following the massive March for Our Lives protests which saw thousands of people take to the streets to campaign for stricter gun controls.

While the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student was taking part in the protests alongside her fellow survivors, someone with too much time on their hands was knocking together this GIF:

Sadly, as is often the case with social media, the image spread like wildfire before anyone even bothered to check its validity. One furious woman shared the image and wrote: "Still think they just want to make a small adjustment to ur Right? If u don't like the way we are in America, why r u here? Our Constitution is what separates us aka the REASON u haven't left yet. There are other places in the world that satisfy ur desires. Just get on the plane! [sic]"

Others commented calling González 'disgusting' and 'dangerous', again, either without bothering to check it was real or not caring that it wasn't.

However, the actual - unaltered image - is from a shoot González took part in for Teen Vogue and it wasn't the constitution she was tearing up - it was a target, which is perfectly reasonable given the fact she's now a major campaigner for gun control:

The weird switch was spotted by Twitter user Don Moynihan who wrote: "Just a sample of what NRA supporters are doing to teenagers who survived a massacre."

The tweet has been shared over 112,000 times and has been flooded with comments from people condemning those who created or shared the fake.

González is yet to comment on the bizarre mock-up.
