Some people love delving into a good conspiracy theory - and you’d be surprised how many popular ones there are out there.

Of course, there are the claims that Sir Paul McCartney was replaced by Billy Shears; celebrities covering their eyes in pictures to show they’re part of the Illuminati, and the idea that the moon landing never actually happened in July 1969.

Another weird conspiracy that first caught fire in 2017 is that First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, 55, has allegedly been replaced by a 'body double'.

The false theory claims that the mother-of-one has been replaced by a 'lookalike', with the conspiracy usually resurfacing every time Melania appears in public with her husband, Donald Trump.

These wildfire rumours have actually reached the US President’s ears. In 2019, he condemned the chat as nothing more than ‘fake news’, alleging his critics were ‘only getting more deranged with time’, as per the Associated Press.

But Trump shutting down the bizarre gossip hasn’t stopped conspiracists from speculating whether Melania really is who she says she is.

Unbelievably, the theory has popped up again online. It appears to have resurfaced after pictures of the former model and her spouse touching down in the UK were published online.

Trump and his wife, who are currently on their second state visit, were snapped exiting Air Force One at London Stansted Airport last night (September 16).

In the pictures, Melania is tightly holding onto the businessman’s hand - an act which some critics have branded as an ‘unusual’ and ‘rare’ display of affection.

Their entwined hands have caused the ‘body-double’ rumours to spread again, with one X user writing: “Which Melanie is this? It doesn't look like Number 1.”

Another remarked: “It's the real Melania and the fake Trump. The real Trump is married to the fake Melania,” while a third alleged: “Hmmmm. Big smile and holding hands ……must be ‘public trip’ stand-in Melania.”

Melania and the 47th US President were greeted by chief UK ministers and dignitaries at Stansted Airport before being whisked away into central London by the Marine One helicopter.

The BBC reported that they stayed at Winfield House, on the outskirts of London's Regent's Park.

The 12.5-acre property boasts a large collection of American fine art and features reception and state rooms, according to the outlet.

Today (September 17), King Charles III hosts the POTUS at Windsor Castle, and on Thursday (September 18), he’ll meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Speaking about his relationship with the monarch, Trump claimed in April: "I'm a friend of Charles, I have great respect for King Charles and the family, William.

"We have really just a great respect for the family.”
