Prince William and Kate Middleton praised for flying on a commercial plane for US trip

Prince William and Kate Middleton praised for flying on a commercial plane for US trip

People have celebrated the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for not taking a private jet to America for their trip.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been praised for flying on a commercial plane rather than taking a private jet.

Even though he might be the heir to the British throne, it seems like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge aren't afraid of rubbing shoulders with regular folk.

But, we should note that the couple did sit in First Class and their entourage took up a lot of the exclusive section, according to CBS.

Flight staff said the couple was 'utterly delightful' during the eight-hour journey across the Atlantic.

Passenger Brent Suttles told CBS: "They were just pleasant, asking what [our] purpose was in London, which is where we flew out of, Heathrow, and then where [our] end destinations were."

Fellow traveller Luke Howard explained to the outlet: "Well look, they're coming for Earthshot. It's an environmental thing, right, so being on a commercial flight makes sense."

Jonathan revealed there was a buzz on the plane the moment everyone realised who they were flying with.

To be fair, it's not every day you get to breath the same recycled air as royalty.

Pictures posted by news outlets show Prince William and Catherine happily chatting to some of the passengers in First Class.

The couple travelled from the UK to the US for the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony at the MGM Music Hall.

They stopped off in Boston for a three-day tour of Massachusetts before heading to the glitzy ceremony.

Many on social media commended Prince William and Kate for not taking the easy route of hiring a private jet.

One person remarked on Twitter: "Flying commercial. They walk the walk. Leading by example."

Another added: " They practice what they preach. Not everyone does."

The trip is the first for William and Kate since the death of Queen Elizabeth II and it's also their first working holiday to the United States since 2014.

The Earthshot Prize Awards was set up by Prince William in 2020, according to Newsweek, and they honour environmental innovators.
