Brits are reminiscing about the golden age of festivals after the price of Reading and Leeds Festival 2025 tickets were revealed this week.

The annual music event will see the likes of Chappell Roan and Hozier take to the main stage next summer, and the first general tickets dropped on Monday shortly after the line-up was revealed.

It's prompted fans to comment that ticket prices have skyrocketed, with a weekend ticket costing around four times as much as it did back in 2000.

At the turn of the millennium, a weekend ticket cost around £80 (the equivalent of £148.60 in today's money, according to the Bank of England's inflation calculator) with an incredible line-up that featured top artists including Pulp, Oasis, Stereophonics, Foo Fighters, and Eminem.

For price comparison, a weekend ticket for 2025 (which, to be fair, has not increased since last summer) currently weighs in at £325.

Taking to X, one festival-goer wrote: "My Reading Festival ticket in 2000 cost me £86. This was the bloody lineup... Ticket prices are a joke now. Considering we’re apparently in a cost of living crisis.”

In the poster attached, it's hard to not to agree that it was a stellar lineup back in the day. We're talking Oasis, Pulp, Prml Scrm, Stereophonics, Placebo, Slipknot, Eminem, Rage Against the Machine, Blink 182, Foo Fighters, The Bluetones, and Limp Bizkit. Not too shabby for less than a hundred quid.
