Ryanair Passenger Thrown Off Flight To Ibiza And Arrested For 'Vaping' On Board

No one wants to smell a cloud of cotton candy flavoured smoke as they try to remember the safety instructions for a plane crash.

We've all been looking forward to jetting off to our favourite destinations after spending what feels like an eternity stuck at home.

Regardless of how excited you are, though, you should – of course – hold off on smoking or vaping until the plane lands, you've collected your luggage and you've left the airport; no one wants to smell a cloud of cotton candy flavoured vape as they try to remember the safety instructions for a plane crash.

Still, that didn't stop one man from vaping on a Ryanair flight this past Saturday, 11 June.

The plane was Ibiza-bound from Manchester Airport when the incident occurred, with Alex Jackson, a fellow passenger, sharing the footage to TikTok with the caption: "Bit over the top if you ask me."

The clip shows a police officer confronting the man in question after they were allegedly caught vaping on the plane. The video then shows a group of officers huddled around a police van after seemingly handcuffing the passenger.

Since posting, the clip has garnered around 2.1 million views and, naturally, people are sharing their opinions.

One user wrote: "Imagine being so addicted to his vape that he'd rather try and sneak some than just wait 'til after this flight."

While another added: "People that smoke or vape on the plane need some kind of self control therapy."

Alex filmed the incident.

Alex has also commented on the situation, explaining in a statement today, 13 June: "We were on the plane and two guys right at the front of the plane were absolutely hammered.

“We were delayed already so everyone was already a bit agitated anyway.

"I didn't see it but apparently one of the guys down the front started vaping with an Elf bar."

Imagine explaining that you can't go on holiday with the lads because you were too busy dragging on an Elf bar.

Alex continued to comment, adding: “The flight attendant took it off him and the guy was asking for it back and he said no and that they were phoning the police.

The news comes amid a spate of airline delays.

“He said he would cooperate with them, it wasn’t too heated or anything. Two police officers came on the plane, arrested him and handcuffed him.

"There were two police vans and around eight police officers."

Apparently, the passenger's mates weren't surprised, with Alex saying: “His mates were just in front of me, they said he always does stuff like this and that they weren't too shocked.

“I wasn't bothered, I was just trying to get to Ibiza.”

In a statement to LADbible, Ryanair said: "The crew of this flight from Manchester to Ibiza (11 June) called for police assistance ahead of departure after a passenger was found vaping onboard the aircraft.

"In accordance with policy, smoking/the use of e-cigarettes is strictly prohibited at any time onboard the aircraft and this passenger was removed by police."
