S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole has died aged 46, it has been confirmed.

The popstar's family released a statement, in which they confirmed that he had been found at his home yesterday (6 April).

He was later pronounced dead, with Dorset Police stating there were no suspicious circumstances.

The statement from Cattermole’s family and S Club 7 said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

“While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time.”

A separate statement from the band, which was shared on their social media accounts, said that they were devastated by the news.

It read: “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel.

“We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

“He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."

Cattermole was one of the original members of the band, which formed back in 1998.

Alongside Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt, and Rachel Stevens the group went on to become one of the biggest bands in the world.

Even today, club nights up and down the country are filled with people dancing to tunes like 'Don’t Stop Movin' and 'Bring It All Back'.

Earlier this year, they announced they were reuniting for a huge tour to mark their 25th anniversary.

Since news of Cattermole's death was announced, fans have taken to social media to offer their condolences to his family.

"Terribly sad news of the passing of Paul Cattermole," wrote one. "Thoughts with his family, friends and the group/friends S Club 7. RIP."

Another commented: "RIP Paul Cattermole. You finally reached the stars."

"@SClub7 member Paul Cattermole dies aged 46," put a third. "So sad. Such a talent. God Bless."

While another added: "RIP Paul Cattermole. My thoughts and love go to all your friends and family."
