Biohacker Bryan Johnson claims to have ‘cloned’ himself ‘as a newborn’ and say it could one day ‘grow organs for transplantation’ just days after he revealed he had been diagnosed with an incurable stomach condition.

Johnson has spent years - and millions of dollars - in his quest to de-age himself and perhaps even live forever.

His journey to eternal life, or at least knocking a few years off the clock, has involved some rather unusual methods including injecting himself with his son’s blood, eating 5g of magic mushrooms, and sticking to a very strict routine, which involves waking up at 4.30am, shockwave therapy, and daily light therapy.

In a new update on X, Johnson said: “I just cloned myself...as a newborn.”

He went on to say what he will be able to use the ‘clone’ for, claiming it can become his ‘own blood boy’, used to test therapies and develop new treatments, ‘grow organs for transplantation’, and ‘inject young cells’.

“This baby-Bryan lives in a petri dish for now,” he continued.

“This may be scary to some people…a dystopian future. But, for others, they will see it as the inevitable future of health.

“Clinical trials are already using this technology to restore dopamine neurons for Parkinson's, heart health and eyesight.”

He then detailed the process explaining that he drew blood and had his cells extracted and exposed to ‘yamanaka factors’ and resetting the epigenetic age, before restoring the cells to an ‘embryonic-like state’.

Although Johnson has hailed the cells as a ‘clone’, according to the International Business Times, the description of the process appears to point towards pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs),

These stem cells can theoretically be developed into different types of specialised cells.

In his post, Johnson has suggested that the cells could allow him to ‘rebuild’ his body and do things like repair his eyesight or hearing, or be used to restore liver and kidney function, as well as repair damaged skin.

Johnson added: “As cells age, they accumulate epigenetic errors compounding into dysfunction and disease. This technology gives us a path to reverse aging.”

He also appeared to suggest that the ‘clone’ had been inspired by his recent diagnosis with autoimmune gastritis.

“I mentioned getting diagnosed with an incurable disease is one of the best things that has happened to me in a long time,” he concluded.

“It’s opened up a frontier of new paths to repair and strengthen the body. This is the first example.”

Johnson shared his diagnosis earlier this month, revealing that he had likely developed the condition a while back but had only now had it confirmed.

“We now had a formal diagnosis. I have autoimmune gastritis AIG. My stomach is eating itself,” he said.

Johnson explained that the condition is relatively rare and tricky to diagnose.

"Autoimmune gastritis affects an estimated 2–5% of people, and likely more, because it hides and is challenging to diagnose," he said.

"It's usually silent for years, surfacing only once the stomach has atrophied enough to do real damage."
