Yesterday, the Internet and the footballing world were buzzing with reports that Ronaldo de Assis Moreira - better known as legendary Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho - was going to marry two women in August.

But the sportsman has since denied that that's the case. "The whole world is calling me," he told SporTV when asked about the reports on Thursday. "I'm not going to get married, it is the biggest lie."

The two women in question are Priscilla Coelho and Beatriz Souza. O Dia reported that the trio already live together, while a photo of the three of them together was shared across the Internet.

Ronaldinho originally dated Coelho before meeting Souza in 2016, but reportedly continued his relationship with the former. O Dia claimed that the footballer asked for their hand in marriage in January of last year.

The news site also wrote that Ronaldinho's sister would not be attending the wedding because she disapproved of the union.

As the story spread, there were even quotes from friends. One told Extra that Coelho's family disapproved of the wedding, though not perhaps for the reason you might think.

"They are upset because they discovered that every present he gives to Priscilla he also gives to the other girl," the anonymous source said. Which is surely better than her not getting any presents while the other gets them all.

Polygamy is illegal in Brazil, but as O Dia reported, despite it being outlawed, civil unions between more than two persons are actually quite common.

And although the 38-year-old football player has dismissed reports of the marriage, he hasn't actually denied that the three of them live together - or in what capacity.

Still, it all goes to show how quickly a rumour can spread in this day and age, even if it's false. Or perhaps Ronaldinho is actually double-bluffing us all and it is actually true and in a few months he will actually tie the knot with the pair. Either way, we wish the happy trio well.

Among the finest talents of his era, Ronaldinho scored 70 goals for Barcelona in 145 appearances for the club between 2003 and 2008, and won the 2002 World Cup as part of the Brazil squad.
