Jake Paul has been working hard to ensure fighters on the undercard for his upcoming match against Tyron Woodley are being paid properly.

The 3-0 YouTuber-turned-boxer has made it his personal mission to see that fighters are paid fairly, according to Showtime boss Stephen Espinoza.

The broadcaster boss told MMA Fighting Paul has a hands-on approach 'behind the scenes', to make sure the event provided appropriate pay for its fighters.

He said: "I'll tell you something behind the scenes and I've never had it happen quite this way.

"When we're putting together the card and we're working with the promoter and his advisor Nakisa [Bidarian, BAVAFA Sports boss], Jake made it a point to ask, 'What is each fighter making?'

"He was asking, 'Are the women's fighters, are those fighters being paid appropriately? Are the other fighters, the people we're bringing over from the UK, are they being paid appropriately?'"

Espinoza went on to compare Paul to his former opponent Floyd Mayweather, who has also spoken out about fair pay for fighters.

He added: "I know this is a personal issue and I see it first hand when there's no cameras around.

"The only person I've seen that from is Floyd, and Floyd took a very active role in everything that happened on his card.

"Jake in particular is involved in everything but you can tell he is concerned about making sure the compensation is fair."

Paul will take on former MMA star Woodley on 29 August, with Woodley set to pick up a seven-figure sum.

Paul has previously said he thinks the fighter could be underestimating him.

He told MMA Junkie: "I think he's just going through the motions.

"I don't know if he has really digested how good of a fighter I am.

"I still think there's like this mental block for him where he's just like, 'Oh, this kid's a YouTuber. How hard could this fight be?'

Jake Paul has been questioning how much his undercard fighters, including Amanda Serrano and Yamileth Mercado, will pick up.

"He says he's training hard, and he says he's doing all the right things, but I still think in the back of his head he's like, 'I've fought Kamaru Usman, I fought Gilbert Burns. This is gonna be an easy fight.'"

The undercard for the fight will see Amanda Serrano take on Yamileth Mercado - for the WBC, WBO and IBO World Featherweight titles - as well as Daniel Dubois versus Juiseppe Cusumano, and Tommy Fury fighting Anthony Taylor.
