Tom Brady has proven that he's not only a sports icon, but a top lad too.

The former NFL star recently announced that he had become a minority owner of Birmingham City Football Club.

Following in the footsteps of names like Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney after their shock takeover of Wrexham, Brady has dipped his toe in the English game.

And the 46-year-old stunned fans of the Blues when he rocked up to a local boozer ahead of the club's Championship clash with Leeds United at St Andrew's stadium on Saturday (12 August).

“Tom Brady is here and he’s perfect,” bystander Kelsea Ravenhill tweeted.

Speaking to PA about the bizarre scene, the 26-year-old said everyone was pumped to see Brady in Brum.

“The film crew, Tom Brady, his bodyguards all entered the pub for his Blues entrance and introduced himself to all our fans,” she recalled.

“The place is rocking, completely changed the atmosphere, he is just a sports legend!

“It’s made everyone’s day, was a pleasure to meet him and I just hope we can get the three points for him later now.”

The seven-time Super Bowl champion was spotted at the Roost pub and the Royal George Hotel during his visit.

And it's been reported that he put his hand in his pocket, putting £150 behind the bar for punters for get a pint, as well as leaving a £400 tip for staff.

The Royal George Hotel owner Antoin McGroarty said he was stunned by the sports star's presence.

"I had no idea they were coming, out of sheer coincidence I'd asked a photographer to come in for the day to take some shots," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"I was standing behind the bar and it was such a shock. I couldn't believe it. He's probably the biggest sports star in the world and to pop into our pub, in the middle of small heath, it was amazing.

"That game will go down in history because of them taking over the whole club. You could see the whole day was electric before and after the game, with the two Toms coming in and the results.

"Everybody was sort of shell-shocked as they were standing there for a beer. You don't expect the biggest sports star in the world to walk in. There was a stampede for selfies after that."

But even despite Brady not drinking himself, he treated his fellow Blues to a cold one.

"They were upstairs, while in the bigger bar the fans were chanting 'USA' for about 15 minutes," Mr McGroarty added.

"The two Toms were absolutely brilliant, they had selfies with absolutely everyone. They bought beer for everyone that was in there. They couldn't have been nicer."
