Fans claim Vinicius Junior 'looks unrecognisable' after post-World Cup face surgery

It appears Vinicius Junior has decided to go incognito after a new facial surgery leaves the Real Madrid star looking unrecognisable.

After exiting the World Cup in the round of 16, it looks like Vini Jr decided to go under the knife as soon as he arrived back home, with the 26-year-old reportedly having work done on his chin.

According to Portuguese-language outlet TMC, the Brazilian headed straight to celebrity dermatologist Dr Alessandro Alarcão in the city of Goiânia after touching down.

The outlet revealed that Vini Jr had undergone a chin harmonisation procedure, have a look at the results below:

According to cosmetic surgeon William Townley, a chin augmentation is performed to balance facial features and create more harmony within the face. It can be done both surgically and non-surgically, with the latter results being achieved through the use of fillers.

TMC reveals that Vini Jr opted to achieve his desired results through the use of fillers, which allows the forward to skip the lengthy recovery process associated with surgical procedures.

Recent images of Vini Jr suggest that he'd also had some work done to his teeth, with the football star's gnashers looking noticeably straighter.

Despite the Brazilian outlet suggesting that Vini Jr wanted to keep his surgery low-key, the results have already gone viral, with people saying the player now looks unrecognisable.

"The before/after pics are wild, barely looks like the same person," wrote one person on X, after seeing a snap of Vini Jr supporting his girlfriend Virginia Fonseca at the opening of her new gym.

"My brain can't wrap itself around the fact that this is Vini Jr. now, I swear," wrote a second, while a fourth joked that he'd no longer be able to use facial recognition.

"Brother has to get another passport, those are two different faces," added a fourth.

The new look was also captured by the footballer's friend Danilo Nascimento, who shared a video of Vini Jr signing Real Madrid shirts for fans on his Instagram. The clip shows Vini Jr's work from the side, with the forward's jawline looking noticeably more defined.

While Vini Jr himself has not commented on the surgery or his decision to go through with the procedure, fans have speculated that it may have been in response to harsh comments regarding his looks over the years.

"Having thousand of people consistenly mocking you for Years must be absolutely terrible for someone's mental health, specially people consistenly go at Vini appearance," one person wrote on Reddit.

"Honestly, I find this kind of sad. He has been called ugly his whole career and it definitely got to him," added another.
