Olympian shares phrase athletes use before they get lucky in Olympic village

The condom supply at this year's Winter Olympics ran out in record-breaking time

What happens in the Olympic village, stays in the Olympic village - everything except the most popular pick-up line athletes use, that is.

One athlete who previously bagged a gold medal while competing at the international sporting event revealed how just five simple words usually seal the deal.

For those who haven't heard, competitors are apparently at it like rabbits whenever they've got down time between events.

This has reportedly been the case at the 2026 Winter Olympics too, as the free condoms that are available for athletes are said to have ran out in a record-breaking three days.

Cardboard bed frames - dubbed 'anti-sex beds' - were introduced in 2020, although organisers said this was for environmental reasons, rather than to put a stop to the alleged hanky-panky.

But real beds are back in the six Olympic Villages dotted across Northern Italy for this year's competition, which might explain why that condom supply depleted so quickly.

Some Olympians have already spoken out about their reputation for being ridiculously horny, with sports stars admitting it's pretty inevitable if you stick a load of 'incredibly good-looking athletes with perfect bodies' who are wearing 'tight Spandex' in close proximity.

But us mere mortals aren't too clued up on the seduction techniques that competitors use on each other at the Olympics.

Which is where former US football star Hope Solo comes in.

The 44-year-old knows all about what goes on behind closed doors at the Olympic villages, as she's been there herself a few times before.

Solo helped Team USA's national soccer team win gold at both Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Ahead of her second Olympic bid in the UK capital, Solo spilled some secrets while speaking to ESPN.

The gifted goalkeeper explained that hooking up in the village is actually sometimes easier than doing so in the outside world.

"There's a lot of sex going on," Solo explained. "Unlike at a bar, it's not awkward to strike up a conversation because you have something in common."

She then revealed the chat-up line that athletes often kick off the conversation with - and suggested it had a very high success rate.

Solo continued: "It starts with, 'What sport do you play?' All of a sudden, you're fist-bumping."

However, she did point out that the alleged after dark activities 'can be a huge distraction' for athletes if they 'don't have discipline'.

Solo then added: "When they're training, it's laser focus. When they go out for a drink, it's 20 drinks. With a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you want to build memories, whether it's sexual, partying or on the field.

"I've seen people having sex right out in the open. On the grass, between buildings, people are getting down and dirty."

As long as that condom supply is being replenished and they're all being safe and respectful, who are we to judge, eh?
