The United States government has just put $5 million bounties on four of El Chapo's sons.

The sons - Ivan Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, Ovidio Guzmán López, and Joaquín Guzmán López - are now some of Mexico's most wanted criminals.

Announcing the hefty reward, the US Department of State said: "All four are high-ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel and are each subject to a federal indictment for their involvement in the illicit drug trade."

It goes on to add: "If you have information about Ovidio or Joaquín Guzmán López contact +1-520-335-7315 or e-mail [email protected]. If you have information about Ivan or Jesus Guzmán Salazar, contact +1-619-540-6912 via WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal, or via Threema: 2VBZFZTY or via SNAPCHAT: narco_tips."

On top of El Chapo's sons, there is also a bounty on the head of his brother - Aureliano Guzmán Loera aka Guano.

There has also been a reward tripled for El Chapo's former Sinaloa Cartel partner Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada which now stands at $15 million.

The Department of State went on to say: "For years, the United States has been in the grips of the worst drug epidemic in its history, driven by overdose deaths involving heroin and illicitly manufactured fentanyl and an increase in methamphetamine availability.

"Transnational criminal organizations are largely responsible for bringing these drugs and related violence to our communities.

"To counter this threat to the American people, President Biden has signed two new Executive Orders (E.O.) declaring a national emergency to deal with this epidemic and another formally establishing the U.S. Council on Transnational Organized Crime (USCTOC)."

Last year, El Chapo's sons were reportedly enforcing a lockdown curfew in Mexico during the coronavirus outbreak.

They were threatening to 'sanction' anyone who was found to be ignoring the 10pm curfew, with claims they had sent out henchmen to 'torture' people who had broken the curfew.
