'Tinder Swindler' Banned From Dating App

The conman is the subject of a new Netflix documentary

The subject of new Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler has been banned from the dating app. Watch the trailer here:

The film, which comes from the makers of Don't F**k with Cats, was released on Wednesday (2 February) and tells the shocking story of conman Simon Leviev - whose real name is Shimon Hayut.

The doc delves into the tales of the women who were conned by the pretend playboy, who ended up scamming them and taking millions of pounds from them.

He has spent years travelling around the world on the run from the authorities, wanted for a series of crimes, including forgery and theft.

But he won't be duping women on Tinder anymore, as the company confirmed he has been banned from the app.

A spokesperson told LADbible: "We banned Simon Leviev and any of his known aliases as soon as the story of his actions became public in 2019. He is permanently banned from Tinder.

"In the lead up to the release of the documentary, we conducted additional internal investigations and can confirm Simon Leviev is not active on Tinder under any of his known aliases."

Hayut has spent years travelling around the world on the run from the authorities and was wanted for a series of crimes, including forgery and theft.

The conman spent two years in a Finnish prison for defrauding several women and after his 2017 release he went back to Israel, before fleeing the country for Europe so he couldn't be arrested.

Hayut was eventually caught for using a fake passport in Greece in 2019.

He was extradited to Israel and sentenced to 15 months in prison for theft, fraud, and forgery of documents - all charges from 2011, unrelated to the accusations made against him in the Netflix documentary.

He was later released after five months on good behaviour.

The conman's crimes angered viewers.

The documentary follows Cecilie, a Norwegian student living in London, who found herself involved in a whirlwind romance with Hayut - a supposed billionaire and self-proclaimed 'Prince of Diamonds'.

As their relationship progressed, things took a turn for the worse, with Cecilie's new beau begging her for money to avoid being tracked down by people apparently out to kill him.

Eventually, she discovered that he wasn't who he said he was and she joined forces with other victims to bring him to justice.

The official synopsis reads: "Swipe, swipe, swipe... It’s not easy to find love online, so when Cecilie matches with a handsome billionaire playboy, she can’t quite believe it when he turns out to be the man of her dreams.

"But dreams aren't reality and by the time she discovers this international businessman isn’t who he says he is, it’s too late. He’s taken her for everything.

"Where this fairytale ends, a revenge thriller begins. Cecilie discovers his other targets and once they band together, they're victims no more: THE TINDER SWINDLER meets his match."
