Major conspiracy theory sparked after Russia leaks unseen behind the scenes footage from Trump-Putin meet

The Kremlin shared behind-the-scenes footage of the world leaders

Rumours have been flying around about Russian president Vladimir Putin since he and Donald Trump linked up in Anchorage, Alaska on Friday (15 August).

In what was their first face-to-face meeting in seven years, it was hoped that Trump would get Putin to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine - which is a feat he previously said he could complete in just 24 hours.

But that deadline passed long ago and the commander-in-chief is no closer to fulfilling his campaign promise, as the duo walked away without coming to a peace agreement.

Trump said the sit down had been 'extremely productive' and 'some great progress' had been made, however, the meeting wasn't half as exciting as the lead up to it.

As the political side of things were largely uninspiring, people have instead been concentrating on other more interesting aspects of the 'Alaska 2025' summit.

Between Trump's 'power play' handshake, him bizarrely walking in zig zags and the US flexing its military muscles by flying Northrop B-2 Spirit bombers overhead, there's plenty to unpack.

People have also been going through every aspect of Putin's rare public appearance with a fine tooth comb, such as his four-word comment in English, him shouting a 'brutal' comment at a reporter and the reason behind the sinister placement of his arm.

Body language experts have debriefed us on what Trump and Putin were communicating with the world via their movements, too.

But it's claims about the Russian tyrant using a 'body double' that still has tongues wagging on social media.

The Kremlin released behind-the-scenes footage of the two world leaders chewing the fat after wrapping up their press conference - and in the clip, Putin is seen putting on quite the strange display. Take a look:

He's got his back to the camera while talking to Trump, but his legs can be seen 'twitching suspiciously' as he says ta-ra to Trump.

Put it this way - although Putin normally moves as though he needs a bit of WD40 on his joints, he looked very loose in this clip.

And according to people online, this is enough evidence to ascertain that the bloke in the video isn't the Russian president at all, but rather a body double.

One conspiracy theorist said: "This isn’t Putin - no way. His body language is so weird."

Another added: "I don’t think a KGB Master Spy would shake his legs so much when standing. This guy ain’t Putin."

A third commented: "What the heck is wrong with Putin?!? Look at his body almost convulsing, unable to stand still."

While a fourth chimed in: "That's obviously not the real Putin, that's one of his body doubles, because he's as usual way too paranoid to actually go himself."

Others weren't convinced that Russia would risk sending a lookalike in Putin's place for such an important meeting.

"They would not send a double on an event like this," one person said in a post on Twitter.

And a second joked: "I’d be a bit skittish if a B52 just flew over my head."

Body language expert Inbaal Honigman also rubbished claims that a Putin lookalike had been sent to talk to Trump, revealing there was an 'identifiable mark' which assured her it was definitely him.

However, she did admit that he appears to be a 'little slower and a little stiffer' these days - so it's no wonder the rumour mill is still running wild.
