Twins give birth at the same time and same hospital

Both babies were delivered by the same obstetrician, too.

Twin sisters have given birth at the same time and, yep, in the same hospital, too.

9News reported that identical twins Gillianne Gogas and Nicole Patrikakos have always been twinning hard.

And when it came to motherhood, the sisters were no different, falling pregnant around the same time.

But no one could've predicted the two giving birth on the same day at Epworth Freemasons in east Melbourne.

Gillianne gave birth to her son on August 22 at 1.20 pm, only to have her nephew, Nicole's son, born five hours later.

"The timing, you just can't plan something like that. So yeah, disbelief, shock, excitement, all of those emotions," Gillianne told 9News.

"[We were] very close growing up.

"We have always done everything together so this is just another example of that."

But the similarities don't stop here, as both babies were delivered by the same obstetrician, Dr Joseph Sgroi.

"It is not something that is common. It is not commonplace for even sisters to give birth on the same time or on the same day," he said.

Just to make your head spin, both boys shared the exact weight of 3.5 kilograms.

Dr Sgroi said that these infants are more like biological brothers than cousins.

"We know that they share 100 per cent of their DNA so these two boys, whilst they may be cousins they are actually more akin to brothers in terms of their gene pool," he said.

The sisters said that due to their children being born on the same day, it would warrant a 'huge' celebration each year.

"Hopefully they will be as close as we are because it really is a special bond that we have," Nicole told the outlet.

This isn't the first time we've seen twins and their incredibly synchronicity.

Famously, twins WWE champions Nikki and Brie Bella gave birth to baby boys a day apart, with Nikki welcoming a new arrival on 31 July, 2020 and Brie following shortly after on August 1.

When former wrestlers and reality TV stars Nikki and Brie announced their pregnancies, they were shocked to learn they had similar due dates.

Brie told PEOPLE: "Wait, twins being pregnant at the same time? People are going to think that's a joke. We both are shocked. People are going to think we planned it, but you can't really plan pregnancy!"

Nikki added: "[It was] a total surprise. It took even me a good week to come to terms with, like, 'Oh my gosh, I'm pregnant.' I'm not ready for it."
