Girl Finally Realises Why Parents Found Giraffe Drawing So Funny

The 12-year-old said a sex education class at school made her look at her drawing differently

A schoolgirl says she's finally realised why her family found one of her old drawings so funny after she's had sex education classes in school.

Lacey Reynolds, from Basingstoke, was just seven years old when she drew a picture of a giraffe after a family trip to the zoo.

The erm... distinctive work of art features a grinning giraffe with some rather interesting looking 'knobbly knees'. Knob-bly indeed.

Her folks were both in hysterics when Lacey showed them her handiwork, but it was all over the little girl's head.

For years, the giraffe drawing has been given pride of place on the family's fridge, but Lacey, now 12, says she never understood why her mum Kelly, 35, found the drawing so funny... until she took part in sex education lessons at school and made the connection.

I mean, you can see why:

The schoolgirl says she 'cringed' after having lessons about the human anatomy at school and then spotting the drawing on the fridge door. I can't think why.

Mum-of-three Kelly, who is a childminder assistant said: "The photo still makes me laugh to this day - it will never get old.

"We had been to the zoo that day and on the way back Lacey decided to draw animals during the train home.

"When she presented her masterpiece, I was trying not to laugh in her face as she was so proud of her drawing.

"I nudged her dad Jeremey, 35, to take a look and he was in hysterics too.

"We referred to it as the giraffe with knobbly knees and showed all our friends and family.

"It was stuck on the fridge for a few years.

The inspiration for the unusual drawing.

"Lacey never understood why people would laugh at her drawing until last year - when she started secondary school and had sex education lessons.

"One day she came home from school and said, 'I know why that giraffe drawing is so funny now' and went on to explain what lesson she had.

"I couldn't stop laughing but Lacey felt embarrassed."

Well, at least she'll be all set if she ever takes up life drawing in the future.
