Jason Manford has finally started work at Iceland.

The comedian took to social media to share a snap of himself in his new uniform as he starts working as a delivery driver.

Posting the pic on Twitter, the 38-year-old wrote: "I'm guessing this is why mums go to Iceland."

And sure enough, the supermarket confirmed that the comedian had been off on his rounds rounds alongside an Iceland delivery driver, even sharing a laugh with customers along the way.

He also visited local charity The Bread and Butter Thing, delivering £500 worth of groceries to help support those in need with essential food supplies. Iceland has donated 7.8 tonnes of food - the equivalent of 18,500 meals - to the charity in the last six months. Not bad, eh?

Thirty-nine-year-old Jason said: "Massive thanks to Iceland who have offered me this opportunity to not just deliver some food to their loyal customers, but also for making a generous donation to charities that are close to my heart."

Since he shared the photo, it has been liked more than 1,000 times, with fans piling into the comments to wish him well.

One followers said: "I would love a delivery from you Mr Manford!"

A second wrote: "Mums go to Iceland, Dads deliver..."

A third added: "Yay!!! Good for you!!! You'll be making several customers' days when you turn up," as another replied with: "Dude good on you for keeping busy absolute legend."

Iceland also made a donation to Jason's charity of choice, The Children's Adventure Farm Trust in Cheshire, which provides holidays and days out for terminally ill, disabled or disadvantaged children from across the North West of England.

Richard Walker, managing director at Iceland, said: "Everyone at Iceland is extremely grateful for Jason's contribution today and he has certainly helped to lift spirits with our customers and heroic colleagues.

"Our stores are deeply rooted within their local communities, so it's a real privilege for us to be in a position where we can work with great people like Jason and donate to some worthy causes at the same time."

Manford was offered the job at Iceland after he posted about being rejected by Tesco.

The TV star had tried to get some temporary work as a delivery driver for Tesco during the coronavirus lockdown, but joked that he was 'livid' when the supermarket chain turned him down.

After receiving a generic rejection letter from Tesco - we all know the sort of things that those letters say, and they're basically all the same - he tweeted: "Absolutely livid @Tesco. I was only trying to do my bit. I hope the better person got and enjoys the job, I'll be watching."

Obviously, he was only joking, he wasn't actually livid. I don't think he's doing too badly in his other line of work.

But that didn't stop Iceland from stepping in to give him the chance to try his hand at delivering food rather than jokes.

Jason, who said he was 'only trying to do his bit' to help out during the coronavirus pandemic, has received a tweet from Iceland, with the company offering not only a day's work as a trial shift, but also to donate money to the NHS in his name.

Iceland tweeted: "Our door is always open for you @JasonManford.

"Help us out for the day and we'll make a donation to the NHS in your name."

The frozen food specialist also included a cheeky dig at its rivals with the hashtag #everylittlehelps - which is, of course, Tesco's own slogan.

Iceland's managing director said: "Looking forward to welcoming @JasonManford to #TeamIceland."

At the time, Manford replied: "Seeya on the Ice...land."

And it looks like he took the chain up on the offer.
