Charles Bronson’s Fiancé Reckons He Could Be Out Of Jail In Four Years

One of the UK's most notorious prisoners has spent the majority of his life behind bars - but could freedom be in his reach?

The man who has spent the majority of his adult life in prison, Charles Bronson, could be close to freedom, according to the woman he's due to marry. Former Corrie and Emmerdale actor Paula Williamson has made the bold claims while appearing on radio talk back show LBC.

She told the station, her and Bronson are cautiously optimistic about his release after a parole hearing took place earlier this week.

Ms Williamson said: "He could be out in four or five years not 10 years, that's what we spoke about at the parole hearing.

"The decision is not made yet, but the hearing went really well."

The 64-year-old was first sent to prison at 22 for seven years, and spent many months in isolation for being violent or 'highly challenging'. Despite having a time bit of freedom (69 days to be exact) he was thrown back into jail for illegal fighting and armed robbery.

That's where he's largely been for the last few decades, increasing his notoriety by a string on violent incidents while in prison. He once ran naked through Long Lartin jail, clutching a spear that he made out of a broom handle and broken bottle. He's attacked prison staff and inmates, even taking a few hostages during one particular moment.

He says after years of solitary confinement, he's often paranoid about people invading his personal space and his eyesight is awful due to constant exposure to unnatural light.

But despite all these issues, he's managed to find love in Ms Williamson, proposing to her earlier this year.

They're due to tie the knot next week, but obviously the big man won't be able to jet off for a cheeky honeymoon. Paula also told LBC radio: "We get two hours and five guests, then after that I have to go. And I'll go onto a hotel and celebrate with family and friends.

"We would love [to spend our wedding night together] but obviously that's not going to happen with where he is now.

"It's not ideal is it. When you're getting married you kind of expect that to be part of it, don't you. But I love the man and I'm willing to wait."

She's also discussed the idea of having kids with the notorious prisoner, with Bronson even asking if Tom Hardy would provide the sperm. The actor played Charles in a biopic called Bronson, which was released more than 10 years ago.
