People all across London are doing their bit to support the city following the deadly terror attack at London Bridge and Borough Market.

Seven innocent people have been along with the three attackers, while nearly 50 others have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Following the terror incident, the Sikh community has announced that people of all faiths are welcome at their temples, if they need food or shelter.

The appeal has been sent out on social media, with Sikhs posting locations of temples around London.

Social media users have commended the offer of a safe place in a troubling time. One reply stated: "The Sikh community is a shining example of successful integration. You guys are awesome, we're in this together."

Another added: "The wonderful Sikh community first there again. Thank you for all your kindness and help in many different times of crisis."

Sikhs weren't the only people to throw open their doors following the tragedy. While the operation was ongoing last night, people took to Twitter and Facebook to offer their homes to anyone in the area who needed a place to stay.

The outpouring of support was reminiscent of what happened following the Manchester bombing, where residents near the arena said their places were available to anyone.

Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, Harun Khan, has issued a statement which read: "I am appalled and angered by the terrorist attacks at London Bridge and Borough Market, in my home city. These acts of violence were truly shocking and I condemn them in the strongest terms.

"Muslims everywhere are outraged and disgusted at these cowards who once again have destroyed the lives of our fellow Britons. That this should happen in this month of Ramadan, when many Muslims were praying and fasting only goes to show that these people respect neither life nor faith."

Police have arrested 12 people in connection with the attack at London Bridge and Borough Market.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley has provided an update on the ongoing investigation: "The investigation is progressing at pace, and officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, the National Counter Terrorism Policing network are working relentlessly with UK intelligence partners to piece together exactly what occurred.

"We have already made significant progress, but of course, there remains much more to do.

"We are making significant progress in identifying the three attackers, and that there were no other suspects at the scene, when the attack was carried out.

"Work is ongoing to understand more about them, their connections and whether they were assisted or supported by anyone else. As I think you are aware there are searches ongoing in east London, and 12 arrests have been made. There is of course more to do, and we will work relentlessly to establish the facts."
