Thrill-seekers across the UK are buzzing as Alton Towers gives us a first look at Nemesis Reborn ahead of its grand reopening next month.

Alton Towers is known for offering some of the biggest thrills in the UK, including the world's first vertical free fall drop on TH13TEEN and a record-breaking 14 inversions on The Smiler.

But, the Staffordshire theme park's most iconic attraction is undoubtably Nemesis, a cult status rollercoaster that attracts visitors from around the world.

Now, 30 years after making its debut at the park, the famous inverted coaster has been transformed into Nemesis Reborn.

Take a look at the newly released footage below:

As well as reaching 3.5 G-force and speeds of up to 50mph, the updated ride will boast immersive technology and a rebooted story that a giant beast imprisoned underground for much of the past three decades is finally free and out to wreak vengeance.

And, as announced earlier today, visitors will be able to ride the updated attraction from 16 March.

Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort, said: "Throughout its first 30 years, Nemesis captured the imagination of millions of thrill-seekers from around the globe.

"It’s been an astonishing privilege to bring this truly iconic ride into the 21st century.

"We’ve retained its essential DNA, while harnessing the most state-of-the-art technology and immersive storytelling techniques to ensure it will retain its status as a truly unrivalled rollercoaster experience for a whole new generation.

"And from March 16, those brave enough will be able to experience for themselves the truly awesome power of Nemesis Reborn."

Alongside the announcement, a sneak peak into what guests can expect from the new ride has been released online.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) that has already racked up thousands of views, the theme park shared dramatic drone footage of the beast's giant, blazing eye casting a spine-tingling glow over a lake at sunrise.

They wrote: "Spotted in notorious alien hotspot, Cannock Chase, a fearsome creature, fury heightened and more uncontrollable than ever before.

Nemesis Reborn…Are you ready?"

And social media users certainly are, flooding the comment section below the clip.

One person wrote: "Posting this just before work means I'm gonna think about it all day lmao."

Another added: "Cannot wait for opening day now to get back on my no1 UK coaster," while a third said: "Can’t wait gonna be so good."
