US fast-food chain Chick-fil-A is set to open a number of restaurants ‘throughout the UK’.

The popular restaurant chain specialises in fried chicken sandwiches but also serves up wraps, salads, nuggets and has a full breakfast menu offering burritos, hash browns and muffins.

It currently has almost 3,000 restaurants spanning 48-states in the US and also has locations in Canada and Puerto Rico.

Now, it’s set to hit the UK, with a spokesperson telling the Sun the company is ‘looking forward’ to opening up in Britain.

Anita Costello, regional director at Chick-fil-A said: "We are excited our restaurants will bring new jobs and opportunities throughout the UK.

"Serving communities is at the heart of everything we do at Chick-fil-A, and our unique operator model provides one of a kind access to entrepreneurial opportunities."

She added: "We look forward to sharing our authentic Chick-fil-A experience: providing fresh food prepared with high-quality ingredients, served with our signature hospitality."

According to the Financial Times, Chick-fil-A is hoping to open its new UK outlet early in 2025 and has plans to expand to five sites within the first two years, creating between 80 and 120 jobs per store.

Joanna Symonds, Chick-fil-A’s head of UK operations told the FT: “From our earliest days, we’ve worked to positively influence the places we call home and this will be the same for our stores in the UK.”

However, this isn’t the first time Chick-fil-A has launched in the UK, it previously had branches in Oracle shopping centre in Reading and Aviemore, Scotland - both of which closed their doors in 2020 - as well as opening a one-day pop-up in Edinburgh.

The move comes a couple of years after Wendy’s launched a similar plan - the US fast-food favourite announced it would be opening in the UK after disappearing from the high street more than two decades before.

Confirming the news in February 2021, a Wendy’s spokesperson said: "I can confirm that Wendy's will be opening in the United Kingdom in the first half of this year.

"Our first location will be in Reading and I can also confirm that we will open a restaurant in Oxford.

"We are also exploring additional opportunities in the London area.

"The brand is excited to enter the UK with company-owned and operated restaurants this year, and we are looking for franchisees to grow with us across the UK."
