Liverpool fan called out for 'shameless' moment caught on TV at match

A Liverpool has been criticised heavily on social media after footage showed him snatching the shirt as it was offered to a younger supporter.

Video shows Alexander Isak making his way from the pitch at Anfield after Liverpool drew against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

As he exits the pitch, Isak removes his shirt and hands it to a young fan who had been holding out his hand.

But the fan's joy soon turned to disappointment and exasperation after an older fan snatched the jersey, pulling it from the child's hands before walking away with it.

Meanwhile, the young fan was seen throwing his hands up in exasperation and disappointment at what had happened.

After being spoken to by others in the stadium, including what appeared to be staff, the man did give the shirt back to the young fan.

The incident has since started circulating on social media, including separate clips of the initial moment, and then the fan returning the shirt he had taken.

Many took to social media to share their thoughts on the incident.

"Glad the kid got it back, infuriating that grown men act like this," wrote one.

Another wrote: "Credit to the guys who called him out causing him to give it to the boy."

"Fair play to Isak for seeing that and making sure the scruff gave it back. How embarrassing…", said a third.

Others were also forgiving, giving credit to the man for eventually doing the right thing and giving the shirt back.

"Well done to the people who were there," one person wrote on X, "and well done to the fella for giving it back to him, lesson learnt, kids come first."

Fans at games for all sorts of sports will often end up taking something home as a memento, whether it's football shirts, baseballs, or even ice hockey pucks.

In some sports it's even become a part of the game, with baseball fans who catch a ball being allowed to keep it as a souvenir.

However, at times this can mean that the moment that a ball sails into the stands can become contentious as fans scramble to be the one to catch it, and so be able to keep it and take it home.

One such moment involved baseball fan Max Quinn, who was the subject of heavy criticism on social media after taking a ball from an 11-year-old girl in the stands.

Quinn had attempted to catch the ball which after it was hit into the stands, but fumbled the catch, sending the ball bouncing onto the floor close to the girl.

Both Quinn and the girl had then scrambled around on the floor, with Quinn being able to get hold of the ball before she did, lifting it into the air and leaving the 11-year-old gutted as he returned to his seat.

After video footage of the incident circulated online, Quinn would apologise for how he had acted, and would return the ball to the child later on in the game.
