A warning about the dangers of MDMA has been issued after it was revealed that Holly Hagan's sister Darci had tragically died after taking the drug.

It was confirmed back in October that 19-year-old Darci Rose had passed away, with the former Geordie Shore star sharing a heartbreaking message on social media. The family asked for privacy amid reports, but police quickly established that drugs had played their part in the teenager's death, something which Hagan has since admitted in an emotional interview.

Holly recounted the heartbreaking moment that she realised something was seriously wrong, as she woke up at 5am with more than 100 missed calls. She revealed that it was a crystallised form of MDMA, mixed into a drink, which led to Darci suffering two cardiac arrests before eventually passing away back in October.

Holly told the Daily Mail: "Darci went out that night and for the first time had taken the crystal version of MDMA, we know that she put an unknown quantity in her drink.

"I'm not sure why she did but the event she was going to, The Warehouse Project, it's a pretty drug-heavy event, I have been there myself and I know what happens.

'My one regret is not messaging her saying, 'Are you taking anything tonight? What are you taking? Please be careful.'

"I still to this day don't know why I didn't message her and I don't there if there's anything I could have done to change anything but all I know is that she had the bag, she's in a dark club and being naïve and not realising how much a quantity is because she's never taken a version of this drug before, she has poured it into her drink.

"Her friend said there was still a lot left but if you have seen that drug before you know it comes in powder and there are rocks in there as well. What happened is possibly the bigger rocks had gone into her drink, and it still looked like there was a lot left in the bag, but it was enough for it to be an overdose."

Darci was one of two young women who passed away in Manchester back in October after a MDMA overdose, and that led the Manchester Drug Analysis Exchange (MANDRAKE) to issue an urgent warning.

MANDRAKE shared the advice on social media for anyone thinking of taking the drugs, and urged people not to seek medical attention urgently if they ever start to feel unwell.

⚠️WARNING⚠️ 23 Oct 2025

With two separate, tragic deaths in #Manchester last week, both involving young women and both believed to have taken #MDMA powder/crystals @greatermcr have issued this alert via the GM Drugs Early Warning System.

They said that MDMA samples in Manchester show purity levels from 4 per cent to 77 percent, making doses unpredictable. As many as 78 people are also said to have died from the drug last year.

The party drug is popular throughout the UK and US, but this shows how dangerous it can be if not monitored extremely carefully.
