Chaser Mark Labbett has brutal dig at contestant obsessed with Westlife

Chaser Mark Labbett has brutal dig at contestant obsessed with Westlife

He made the brutal remark just before their head to head

Star of hit TV quiz show The Chase gave a contestant a brutal put down as the pair prepared to face off.

The show sees contestants pitting their wits against TV boffins in a tense quiz.

They are given a head start on a board, and then the 'chaser' must catch up to them by answering quiz questions correctly, while they have to escape.

Thrilling stuff.

Jodi said she wanted to see Westlife for the 120th time.

Anyone familiar with the show will know that players can choose to have one of three cash prizes. It's either a low, mid, or high prize.

The catch is that the higher the prize, the less of a head start they have on the chaser.

In yesterday's episode (25 September), contestant Jodi pitted her wits against The Chase star Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, who certainly set a tense tone as the two squared up for the competition.

Host Bradley Walsh asked her about her interests, and of course, what she would spend her winnings on if she was successful.

Jodi went on to explain that she is a huge fan of the popular noughties boy band Westlife, going on to reveal that she has seen the group perform live an impressive 119 times.

But it seems that Jodi wants to make it a nice round number and see the band for the 120th time.

The aspiration drew a frosty response from Labbett. While trash-talking Jodi before the quiz began, he said that she would lose the confrontation, and it would be 'less Westlife and more get a life, now.'

Ouch.

Luckily, Jodi saw the funny side and laughed off the cutting remark.

But in the end, Labbett's trash-talking was proved to be correct, as he beat her in their head to head and sent her home.

With Jodi's early elimination, things weren't looking great as the team headed into the later stages of the show.

Another contestant was eliminated from the game shortly after Jodi leaving just two players, Maggie and Aiden, remaining to challenge the chaser.

It was at this point that Labbett made a huge offer to contestant Maggie.

Maggie had already managed to rack up an impressive £7,000 in her cash builder round, but was presented with a high offer from The Chaser.

Very high in fact, as it was an offer of £100,000.

Maggie was not swayed by the temptation, and opted for a safer option and was able to join her teammate.

However, this proved not enough, with Labbett beating the pair with just seconds to spare.
