Man issued warning to anyone attending work Christmas party after HR email next day

Paddy also issued an update after his 'meeting' with HR

'Tis the season for making an absolute t*t of yourself at your work's Christmas do, but just be wary that HR might get wind of your merry mischief.

If you intend on getting plastered at your firm's festive bash, you are unfortunately running the risk of ruining your professional reputation - just like this bloke did.

The aptly named Paddy Jobsman told how he received a strongly worded email from the human resources (HR) department while nursing a raging hangover the morning after his work's Christmas party in 2023.

The lad shared a TikTok explaining that he had been called in for a sit-down with his bosses after knocking back a few too many eggnogs.

The correspondence about his 'Christmas party conduct' read: "I am contacting you from the HR department regarding reports of your behaviour at our recent Christmas party.

"These reports are concerning and require an immediate discussion. Please attend a mandatory meeting on Monday at 9am in the office.

"This meeting is to address the behaviour in question and its implication under our company policy. It is crucial that you attend this meeting. Failure to not comply may result in further action."

This is obviously the last thing you want to hear after painting the town red with your colleagues - especially if your memory of the previous evening is a little hazy.

Social media users flooded Paddy's post with inquisitive comments about what on earth he'd been up to at the bash, while suggesting getting sloshed in front of your co-workers is a schoolboy error.

One said: "Tell us what you did Pat!"

Another wrote: "How do ya’ll not know that you CAN’T be your real self at company parties?!?!"

A third joked: "Your HR person is named KAREN?! Lmao you're cooked brother."

And a fourth added: "The way I would quit immediately to avoid the discussion."

Paddy shared another TikTok post a short time later, revealing what happened when he attended the HR meeting; however, he decided not to reveal the details of his drunken discrepancy online.

In a second video, he shared a screenshot of a follow-up email he had received after copping an earful from his superiors, which outlined his punishment.

It read: "Following our meeting concerning your behaviour at the Christmas party, we have decided to issue a written warning. This warning will be kept on your personnel record."

Despite his reputation in the workplace probably taking a hit, Paddy seemed to think the outcome wasn't half bad, as he captioned the clip: "Made it out alive!"

His followers seemed to agree, as one person wrote: "Man if you're still on the payroll after the Christmas party, you did good."

Another wrote: "A win is a win."

And a third laughed: "First and last Christmas party."

Other people thought that Paddy was pulling everyone's leg and had mocked up the emails - but either way, it serves as a reminder to keep a lid on your boozy behaviour at your Christmas do this month.
