Man, 21, dies after horror workplace accident as investigation launched
A 21-year-old man tragically died in a horrific workplace accident at his family's firm.
Steven Dougall - from Falkirk in Scotland, which is around 23 miles from Edinburgh - passed away in hospital after the incident on 21 July.
Police are now continuing to investigate the incident, which occurred at an industrial yard near Castle Drive in the town.
In a statement, Police Scotland said the circumstances of the incident are not being treated as suspicious, but that officers are investigating the incident along with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Officers along with paramedics attended the scene on 21 July, where Steven was rushed to Forth Valley Hospital in Larbert. He was later pronounced dead.
Details about the nature of the incident have not been fully disclosed, however the Daily Mail and other media have reported that Dougall had been 'crushed'. The firm has been contacted for comment by LADbible.
Tributes also flooded in remembering Steven on social media, describing him as a 'handsome boy' who 'had his whole life ahead of him'. Footage of a balloon release memorial was also posted online and saw a large crowd of mourners gather together.
An obituary posted online in memory of the 21-year-old said the community of Falkirk was processing the 'heartbreaking loss' and that his family, friends and loved ones had been left 'devastated'.
“Tributes shared in his memory reflect the profound impact he had on those around him and the deep sense of loss felt by everyone who knew him," it read.
“Steven is being remembered as a hardworking, kind-hearted young man with ambitious goals and a bright future ahead of him… those closest to Steven remember him for his warm personality, infectious sense of humour, determination, and ability to create lasting memories with family and friends.”
"Enquiries are ongoing"
In a public statement, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.55am on Tuesday, 21 July, 2026, we were called to a report of a man seriously injured at an industrial premises on Castle Drive in Falkirk.
“Emergency services attended and a 21-year-old man was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert by ambulance where he died a short time later. His family is aware.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious however enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been made aware.”
Confirming the investigation, HSE simply said they were aware and assisting Police Scotland with ongoing enquiries into the fatal incident.
Central Funeral Services also shared a public post on social media announcing the death of the 21-year-old, writing: "It is with great sadness and on behalf of Steven and Kimberley, we announce the funeral service for their beloved son, Steven.
"Steven passed away on 21st July 2026, aged 21 years old. He will be missed deeply. The funeral service will be held at 09.45am on Saturday 8th August at Falkirk Crematorium. All who knew Steven are warmly invited to attend."
